Fingerprint

We got a new camera a few months ago, but for the last little while it has been taking fuzzy pictures. We discovered that somehow there was a fingerprint on the lens that was causing the problem. I took it in today to a special camera shop and they cleaned it right off, so hopefully our pictures will lose their fuzzy edges.

But the point of my story is this: I am constantly amazed by how many different "worlds" there are within the world. I think that for whatever interest/hobby/talent you have there is a little world where people who share the same interest/hobby/talent get together and share through books, magazines, internet sites, specialty shops, classes, workshops, retreats, special events, and meetings. For example, when I was a runner in high school I sort of got into the "runners world." I loved to go to running shoe stores, read running magazines, sign up for road races, and generally associate with other runners. So when I was in the camera store today I felt like I was stepping into the camera/photography world for a minute. I am a stranger there, but thought it was cool to look around and see what kind of things a camera person might buy and think about.

So, my thought is this: what kind of worlds are you a part of or interested in? As of now, I definitely belong to the mommy of a baby and toddler, the blogging, the money-management, and the Primary worlds. But I am interested in the decorating, the political, the organizational, the sewing, and the running/getting in some sort of shape world. And in the future who knows, I might even get into the camera world so that I can use my own chemicals and linen free dust cloth to clean a fingerprint off of my camera lens.

Now that I've had my fingerprints taken, I hope you can't trace it to me. I blame Onion.

Other worlds I have come across: Lego, Star Wars, and Jane Austen fanatics. I feel like I should have more hobbies because I don't really belong to any that I can think of immediately. I know what you mean about the vast number of specialty shops/mags/people out there, though.

I think one of the best worlds is the Cougar sports world. You can be your own Cougar club, with a membership of one. This is definitely a world which I would like to inhabit.

I like your blog Jord, leaves something to think about. Great little concept to think about. It could branch off into an FHE lesson or even a talk in church. Way to lay the ground work.

I think that's something I love about meeting new people, they have lots of little worlds they're a part of that I had no idea about... and my husband belongs to so many that I totally don't understand! ;) The camera people made me think of him ;) I've had many a fingerprint on my little camera and I totally just wipe it off with my shirt - shhhh don't tell Christian!

Everything Anna's involved in also opens a new little mommy world. Like ballet mommies, preschool mommies, swimming mommies - some are way hardcore in their "things". And of course church mommies. I am loving the gym/fitness world these days as well as book club. And your dad's comment about Cougar sports club had me laughing so hard. haha :)

True dat Ryan...I am personally associated with someone else who loves the cougarboard, or as I like to call it, the "man blog." What are you known as on the board? A certain someone would like to know.

Sarah- so funny, Christian is totally a part and famous in his little worlds.

Claire- you're part of more hobby/interest worlds than I'll ever be.

VFR- Keep up the good Cougar work. You're proof that some people live in their own little worlds.

Linny- I don't know if this post is that thought provoking, but thanks for the compliment!

I love your posts, very thought provoking! I to am in the mom world..a preschooler going on 16, a toddler and an infant, love it though..never a dull moment. My daughter does gymnastics so I get to be in the mini gym world.
Exercise world..I took up running about two years ago and for me..who hated running that was a big accomplishment! I haven't ran any road races yet..but I am working on it..its so much easier to run here than in Utah..so I find I can go further. hey any tips or advice from the runner would be great!
I am in the Pilates world..love it, love it, love it! I have been doing pilates for 4 years and now I teach it in my ward. Its such a great exercise! Highly recommend it!
I do photography..so anything in that store is a love of mine! Lenses, reflectors, light meters, digital, film etc, etc, etc you name it..love it!
Since I graduated in Broadcasting..the radio and tv business will always be in my world. I miss working in it, but thankfully, due to my calling here I get to do a radio show once a month as part of my public relations calling..the Lord certainly blessed me!

I am a big fan of my 'biking' world. That world has changed the face of our family for 22 years now. I would not have become a Lance fan or ever watched the Tour de France with all of my son-in-laws and daughters for HOURS and days on end. I totally recommend this world:)

I'm obviously not in the photography world either, otherwise I'd know why you couldn't just wipe off the front of the lens with a cloth or whatever. Makes me wonder about my camera. Is it blurry and I'm so used to it I don't even know it, and it must be... because me kids play with it all of the time and I've never even thought to take it to a camera shop to get the lens cleaned. Jordan, do you want to enlighten me a bit here?

I'm in too many worlds. Sometimes I think I have too many worlds on my plate. I wish I spent more time in the world of showering and making yourself cute everyday.

So Bethany- I think it is fine to just wipe off the camera lens with a cloth, but my darlingly particular hubby just wanted to have it done by the professionals to get it right. :) If you want the store's address just let me know.

Alexis: Way cool about your broadcasting calling...that is neat to still be able to use your training.

Ann and Jo: You are both part of many worlds and experts in them. :)

jord- i love the idea of the worlds- im definately in the exercise world, but i don't love the others that are in that world with me with the perfectly toned bodies- it's intimidating- i'm also in the reading world and i love to talk to other readers and share good reads. i love being in the decorating world and love people who share my decorating style and like to assist me in decorating/rearranging- i also love my reality TV world and talking w/ family about "our shows"
