I am freaking out.
Freaking out.
I just read about them on Wikipedia and my skin is covered in goosebumps.
The chills are running up and down my spine.
Today I was in L's room, looked up at the ceiling and saw one of these

a termite tube.
So sick.
Could be so costly.
When our house was inspected one year ago, the termite man who came specifically to check for them said we were clear.
How did this happen???

Sick! What are you going to do about it? Can the pest control guys take care of it? Good luck.
Yes, a guy is coming tomorrow between 10 and noon. I can hardly wait and will welcome him warmly.
Ahhhhhhh that is so horrible!!!!!!! Worse than vomit! I hope they can clear up your problem! I am going to intentionally NOT read up on termites and spare myself the trauma. Hope it all gets resolved quickly!
oh sick!! That sucks, I heard those suckers are hard to get rid of. What is that coming out of the ceiling, is that from the termites?
Sick! The problems and expenses of being a home owner. No good! I hope it gets resolved easily and inexpensively.
oh sick! That's no fun! good luck with all that.
yuck!!! I would feel the same way, creepy crawly! ughh
I'd demand that termite guy debug the house for free after that bad inspection!
Ewwwwww! That stinks! I hope that it's all taken care of now! Oh the joys of owning a home... I don't envy this one! :) And I hope it doesn't end up costing too much, ugh!
Jordan, there are so many people that said sick that I am going to try and not say sick, but then I just did say sick like 3 times so what the heck- sick! Ha ha. Termites are all too common here in Arizona- there is a well-known phrase, "There's 2 kinds of houses in Arizona- those that have termites, and those that will." It is inevitable as a homeowner here. Try to take a deep breath and not freak out too much. We had those termite tubes at the Palisades when we first moved here. Pretty freaky, I know. I was just glad I didn't have scorpions. Hopefully, the inspector was correct a year ago (which is very likely)and it is an early and isolated infestation that can easily be dealt with! Keep us updated and quit reading about it!
Thanks for the sympathy...I so just needed to vent. And yes Claire, this is worse than throw up!
Didi is right that termites are totally common and the problem and they'll come Saturday to take care of it. It appears to be an isolated problem and we caught it early.
I guess the termite tube is something the little critters travel in and shows that they were tunneling out of the cieling looking for more food....sick!
The only think we're sick about is that we had a chance to renew a termite warranty and didn't and will now end up paying for it. A whopping grand. Literally. Yikes, note to self, renew the termite contract every year.
Oh, and the inspection we had last year was good, as they only check for visible signs of termites so the little guys were probably there, but just hadn't broken out to the surface where anyone could notice.
Sorry Jord. That tube is rather disgusting. It could be worse, you could be infested with lice or bed bugs, those things come looking for you. At least termites will run when they see you. But I would be freaking out if I were you too.
