This weekend we visited my sister and her husband and enjoyed a nice time in wonderful weather. Unfortunately by the end of our visit, our girls contracted the flu and spent the next several days, at my sister's, while driving home, and in our house vomiting. Not fun. Needless to say, on our 6 hour drive home there were some vomiting incidents and our car still smells of the unfortunate occurrence. We plan to clean it out this weekend, but any tips on removing the foul odor would be appreciated.

I can only offer my sympathies. We have been there many, many times.
I wish I had some remedies to offer to cure the barfmobile smell, but, alas, I don't. Maybe a bunch of those little tree air fresheners would do the trick.
Yuck, how awful! We're having a barf fest here right now. Baby barf can't compare to real grown-up kid barf though. I send you my sympathies.
Vinegar (mix in some water. It smells strong at first, but the vinegar smell goes away after it dries. Also good old fashioned baking powder does a great job at odor remover. Sorry about the throwing up. I hope the girls are feeling better.
That stinks! (literally, haha) I am so sorry about the barfing, there is nothing worse than sick kids barfing... especially in the car! I would totally take the car to a car wash where they do detailing and have them shampoo and clean the seats, rugs, everything. I think it's totally worth the money to get that smell out of there! :) I'm glad everyone's doing better now!
I may be too late but maybe the stuff that takes out the stink from dog urine would work? We have a whole vat of it if you need it :)
eww BARF j/k that sucks for you guys there's nothing worse then the smell of throw up!
Throw up is no good. My girls get car sick and we've had our fair share. I think body odor might be worse though. Ever seen that Seinfeld episode about the bad b.o. in the car?
Thanks for the sympathy everyone, and sorry Emily that you've done this more than once. Do you get immune?
And thanks Kirsten for the vinegar advice...it worked and the smell is gone.
