Now usually I love to throw things away- I am not a saver by any means. But in the last year we've started saving the receipts for purchases over $100 or so. And it has paid off. We've been able to return a malfunctioning computer screen, get the camera fixed, and trade in a comforter that wasn't what it appeared to be in the store. Our storage system is an envelope in the desk drawer, but I'm not complaining.

I'm a believer too. I've keep an envelope in my purse at Chrsitmas time and back to school time (which alas, is no more) so that I have ready access to receipts that are always needed. I think it's a good idea to keep receips for purchases around $50-$100 and up too. I just got a $60 refund from our car insurance because we had the car towed recently and they cover that expense. No receipt, no payback.
I am a reciept nazi (-) gas receipts. Chris always keeps gas reciepts but what are they good for, to remind you how much money your waisting on gas. Not going to get a refund on that! Anyhow, good advice.
As for the heel of the bread, I never eat it and Chris gets on my case for that. He sees nothing wrong with the heel and that is why he always gets the honor of eating it. I don't know what it is, but it's not bread to me, just crust.
Yay that your camera is fixed! That is definitely good advice to save receipts. I need to be better about that. I just like to get rid of everything to eliminate clutter, but an envelope in a drawer I think I can handle ;) Thanks for the advice, Jord!
You have inspired me to keep better track of my receipts. Roger is still wanting to buy the camera similar to the one you bought, but I wasn't sure since your camera broke.
Jordan, Good job on the receipt! And I love your blog! I loved the last three posts I read up on. I agree with the gas thing, the heel of the cheap bread (I do like the end of a good loaf), and agree with your advice. I am excited to see you again soon, too! Email me the details of when you're coming to Utah if you get a chance.
Jord: Good post, and good idea to save receipts. By the way, we had a great experience with Costco this weekend. We bought a tree and paid $80 for it, then saw it within a month selling for $40. They gave us a Costco cash card for the difference. Exceptional customer service by them. Kudos to Costco!
I think I have a receipt curse. i will save receipts forever, determined to have it on hand for the emergency return, only to have given up and thrown it away in a once a year clean up, only to need it a week later. This happens frequently. And now the receipts that I have held onto with a vengance, moving them from my purse, to the kitchen counter, to a drawer and then finally into some great new filing space I have designated (only to be totally forgotten) will never be used. Ahh, such is my life.
Hey! I have the same camera with the same problem and returned it to Canon and they fixed it for free too. They even put a new screen in because the old one was scratched! I was mightily impressed.
