In the market

So thanks to Uncle Sam we are in the market for a new kitchen table. It is time to say goodbye to my parents 28 year old kitchen table that has served both of us well.

Here are the requirements:

8 chairs
expandable to 70-80+ inches
hardworking table top
solid wood chairs
preferably pedestal legs

So far we haven't had much luck in our looking. Everything out there is either too small, to fancy, or too impractical for children.

Feel free to share any table shopping suggestions!

Sorry, Jord, no suggestions as to what to buy or where to buy from me. I'm still partial to the old table that you have down there now. There are some great memories associated with that family table.

I am really wanting this dining set! It is beautiful, very solid and sturdy. It is a perfect mix of modern and classic. My parents got the pub version for their SG home (much to my dismay). Best of all, not too pricey. So without further ado, my recommendation can be found at this link: http://www.ashleyfurniturehomestore.com/catalog/product.aspx?group=DiningRoomFurniture&category=DiningRoomKitchenDiningRoomTables&id=D697-35&spi=0&ref=search-t. Oh I just LOVE it! Good luck!

But I must warn you before you fall in love, my parents table and chairs were ordered in October and they have only received the table and two chairs... in 5 months! So keep that in mind.

We purchased the table you have been using when Grandma F. passed away and left us a little money. That's been a VERY long time ago. There have been thousands and thousands of meals served on that table! It's time to move on. I do love the table Rebecs recommends. Keep looking. You'll find the perfect one.

I've purchased both of the tables that we've had from craigslist so I don't think I'm much help ;) I'm excited for you and your new table! I swear it's murphy's law that when you have the money and ability to get what you've been wanting forever you can't find it! Good luck on the hunt! It sounds like fun!!! :)
