Last week we started 529 college savings plans for our girls.
Hip hooray for getting the ball rolling on that one.
We went with the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP).
Find it HERE.
We liked this plan because there is no minimum balance required to start the account, there are no contribution requirements, and the fees are very minimal.
Also, the state where we live has very tax favorable laws and allows us a write off no matter where our 529 funds are located.
The FAQ's answer many questions about their plan and 529's in general.
Every state has a 529 savings plan and many employers offer 529 investment options.
Education is one of the best investments we've ever made and we hope to provide that same opportunity for our children.

Good for you guys! For all the researching, and setting it up and everything. I need to look into what the laws are here in CA to see if we can use UT's because I really doubt CA's is that good... blasted state ;) It looks like a great thing.
We have one for Austin! Makes me feel good to have that planning in place.
Good advance planning, Jord. Those are very smart kids you have, and they will benefit from the college savings plan, for sure.
Way to go! You can never start too early. You'll be way better off than we were. It's such an important thing to do.
We need to do that. You guys are really on the ball!
That's such a smart thing to start on. We are always talking about when we have kids how that's going to be one of our goals to start. Thanks for the info.
Hey I have a question. My mom said that you made a christmas postcard? I was wanting to do a postcard for my thank you's for the wedding. I tried going to postcards.com, but I couldn't really figure out how to do it. I was wondering if you could kinda walk me through the steps. My email is jessicajensen@hotmail.com or if it would be easier to just call, my number is 435-760-5793. Thanks!
