Called to serve
Tomorrow my parents in-law enter the MTC (Missionary Training Center) to begin their full time missionary service.
They are leaving for 18 months to go at their own cost to London to serve in the family history center in Hyde Park.
They were set apart this afternoon to serve as full time representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The Prophet called to "the mature brothers and sisters of the Church, I remind you that the Lord needs many, many more of you to serve as full-time missionaries."
They are answering his request.
They will leave their home, their vehicles, their ward, their friends, their neighbors, their hobbies and interests to devote their time to the work of the Lord.
They will be sorely missed by 7 children, 5 in-laws, and 13, soon to be 14 grandchildren.
But as they have done throughout their lives, they will go because the Lord has asked them to and they are committed to Him.
I couldn't be more grateful for their example to us and our children and hope that they will, as the prophet promised, "enjoy the sweet spirit and satisfaction that come from giving full-time service together in the work of the Master."

Hey my nephew is serving in London right now, how exiting for J's parents.
Proud of your in-laws for answering the call. London will be a wonderful place to serve.
I can't wait to try your two suggested recipes. We're off to Florida tomorrow, but when I get back they're on my list!
We wish you could have joined us for our crazy party. Come this summer and spend some time.
Congratulations to John and Barbara. They are such wonderful people and we've enjoyed our time getting to know them better. They will be wonderful missionaries and have much to offer. They are great examples and you are so lucky to have such outstanding in-laws. Are you planning your trip to go see them?
That's a really sweet post, Jord. I am so excited for them for this next year and a half - and I can't believe they're in the MTC already! So exciting!!! :)
John and Barbara are wonderful people, and you pay them a great and deserved tribute, Jord. They will do a superb job on their mission.
What good examples they are being! Do you think you will visit them while they are there?
How exciting! My parents got asked to go to London but it was too hard with my sister, who is handicapped. I really wished they could have gone so I could have visited! :) You should definitely plan a trip out to see them.
Yes, we totally plan to visit them this summer/fall! Thanks in advance to my parents (Mom) for volunteering to watch our kids so we can go. If you have any London/Spain travel tips I'd love to hear them.
