Last Saturday Lauren started a ballet class at the community center with her friend Daniela. And how did it go, you may ask?
She LOVED it!
We have never seen her pay such rapt attention, see her face beam so brightly, and watch her smile come so freely as when she was dancing like a ballerina.
The class is once a week for the next 7 Saturdays and she can hardly wait for more.
*A side note: the only dance/ballet class I ever took in my life was not such a positive experience. I was probably 7 or 8 and took the class with my little sister at our high school from a lady who seemed to be 80. She was not very patient/nice/fun and I remember her curtly correcting me many a time for not holding a position to her liking. I don't know if it was my extreme inflexibility, lack of balance, or general clumsiness that didn't win her over, but needless to say I never danced again.

She is destined for the stage! Just watch out for Dean the W***! And as I recall it, I didn't like the old-lady ballet teacher because she had old, wrinkly, dry hands, and I didn't like her holding our arms/legs and correcting our positions with the gross hands. Didn't Jana take the class with us, too? I think that was the end of dancing for all of us!
I can't wait to see her dance. She looks so darling and totally engrossed in dancing. Cousin Syd would be proud!
My ballet class at BYU was great until the teacher was picking on me for not standing up and holding my ribs in right...I think she felt pretty stupid when she felt that my rib cage is bigger on one side than the other due to a birth defect and that I couldn't help what she thought was "not standing right." Glad Lauren liked it!
oh so cute! I bet she will do GREAT! It is cute to see other's little girls..we are all boy over here!
Lauren looks absolutely adorable in that picture! Like she is loving being a ballerina! I am so glad her class went so well, it is one of Anna's most favorite times of the week still. I think it is so good for little girls to have ballet, I'm excited for Lauren! And glad her experience was better than yours, Yikes! ;)
Lauren looks so sweet. I also hated ballet growing up. My mom told me that if I took for a year, then I could quit and do tap dancing. I LOVED tap dancing! Maybe you should give dancing another try. It's never too late . . .
Too cute! She looks like a natural in that pose. Gotta love the community center classes, that's where Mason does all his activities. It's a much better value for this age.
I did take that class with you too. Claire, I also remember the wrinkly dry hands. On our walks home we would talk about how scary she was. I took a disliking for the ballet from that day on. Jord, she looks like a doll in that outfit. I can't believe you have a child old enough to take dance classes!
Great picture, Jord, worth a thousand words. It's great that Lauren loves her dance class, and that she pays such rapt attention when she is there. Good for you to have her be in the class.

That's one of the many things I am looking forward to when I have a little girl some day!
I never put Rachel in dance and I will not make that same mistake with Milly-who I am determined will someday be on Dancing With The Stars. I want her and Spencer to be the Hough's of their generation. Anywho, Rachie has NO rhythm whatsoever. It's highly comical and entertaining to watch her attempt to dance...or do aerobics. Lauren looks so sweet in her ballet getup.
