I love the library. Our city has a fabulous library system that offers a ton of user benefits:
-30 item checkout per person
-free movie rentals for a week
-links to many research databases online and on the library computers
-wonderful, and also free, story times offered twice a week for kids
-a reservation system where they'll transfer the book you need to your local branch within just a few days
-a great books on CD collection
-coloring, beanbags, and stimulating toys for the kiddos to play with
-a ton of current and magazine subscriptions available to peruse
-a newly discovered "friends of the library" spot where you can buy books, magazines, and DVD's for no more than $1.00
And the best part, our local branch is exactly .3 miles away.

Good for you, Jord, to make excellent use of the local library. I'm so happy for your kids, and they will love books and reading because of their exposure to the library. Your mother set a great example by taking you to the library and helping you love books and reading, and you are passing that on to your girls.
You are so lucky to have a great library! I used to take the kids in Portland all the time. I found a list I made once of 100 books we read one summer. Logan has an okay library, but if you don't live in Logan, you don't get to use it. Providence's library is about the size of my living room and kitchen. And it has ridiculous hours, like 9-1, and 4-7 a few days a week. What is that? We make sure we have lots of books on hand for the kids. Spencer and Milly love to read. I love when they are old enough to start "reading" to themselves and they hold it upside down and make little funny sounds.
We went and got a library card on Saturday and that was the highlight of our day. Isn't it great!
You are so lucky to live so close to your branch of the library. What a blessing! I'm so glad that the girls enjoy story time and that you've met some wonderful "mom" friends there. Learning to love reading at an early age is a true blesssing. Keep up the good work!
I love the new boards they have with the magnents and the flannel board :) I love the flannel board!
Another HUGE highlight is the free reading programs-my kids LOVE the prizes they get!
The librarians are wonderful too- when my kids are so loud they don't make me feel bad- oh the day spence opened the door with the alarm... such a handful to take the kidos but I love it!
It is fun when we see you there :)
Lucky! ;) We live quite a ways from our library and it's really old, so I go to the one in the town over and we don't go that much. Now I feel guilty. Great. Thanks, Jord! :)
Seriously, my favorite place when I was a kid!
I miss walking to the library.
