We started a great tradition last Thanksgiving called the polar bear plunge where we jump in our unheated pool before Thanksgiving dinner. Last year I couldn't participate, being 9 months pregnant, but this year I took my turn off the board for the 2nd annual plunge and can attest that the water is more than a little bit nippy. It was FREEZING, but oh so fun. Thanks to Dad, Matt, Doug, and Jen for participating!
How fun!! What a great idea! I love it! Maybe our family will try it in our pool next year if we're in town. My boys would be all for it! They go in even without the tradition!
That's awesome! Good for you making Arizona traditions like that. Although, I think I might have hyperventilated. I don't do well with cold water. But that sounds like lots of fun! At least a small break from hours and hours of cooking. :)
Brrrrr! That looks so cold, but so fun :) I'm sad we missed being with you guys! Only a few more weeks until we'll see you though. I bet it was nice to take at least a little break from cooking!
Kylee was right- Mike and two of his friends made a bet that they would do the plunge every month during the winter. They did it two times, then their memories all seemed to fade about the bet, and it didn't happen again. One cold month Mike asked me what I'd give him if he swam 10 laps. Whatever I offered, he thought it was worth it, so he did it. He sure was sorry afterwards as it took him about 30 minutes to feel back to normal!

What a bunch of crazies!
Is this the same Doug whose grandma is my friend and visiting teaching companion?
Si, senorita! I think things are moving along and we're all hoping for come Christmas ring popping.
I'm sad we missed it. OUr pool is never warm, but the kids swim no matter the temp. What a fun thanksgiving, sad we missed it!
I don't believe it! It couldn't have been that cold! You live in the hottest place on earth! But what a fun tradition, minus the brain freeze
Wow, what a bunch of crazy people. It looks like a fun tradition for Thanksgiving! Did Lauren get in?

That's awesome! I'm pretty sure my family did that when we lived in Arizona but I don't think I ever participated. I'm impressed with you!
Very cool (even cold) tradition. Congratulations for the courageous Robertsons for participating.
