We bought this little gem at Costco in November thinking we needed a new camera to capture pictures of our new little baby.
Innocent enough.
Well, we got it home and for the first three months (during which we could have taken it back to Costco for a refund) it functioned perfectly.
But on the 91st day it went on the fritz.
It wouldn't turn on.
It wouldn't turn off.
The pictures were blurry. (Which, unlike I previously thought was NOT due to a fingerprint).
So I took it on my trip to take pictures of my brother's wedding. It worked up until the wedding day, the moment the bride and groom were coming out of the temple. And then it would not turn on. No matter how hard I tried, pushed the on button, charged and recharged the battery.
For the last week it has been dead.
Until just now.
Just as I started to type the title of this post it fell from my lap (where it was sitting so I could look up its picture for you to avoid) onto the hard tile floor and miraculously turned on.
I think it is possessed.
I need a new camera.

Maybe it needed a good knock on the noggin and now it will work perfectly! Hang in there and see if you healed it by dropping it!
That is such a bummer!! An even bigger bummer is that I think we have the same camera, mine isn't in front of me right now but when we were at the zoo did we discover that ours were the same? If so I am hoping yours just picked up an evil spirit somewhere and I don't have the same fate awaiting me.
Thanks for the heads up! I've been wanting to get a new camera as well, so I'll be sure to not get that one. I'm sorry that you've had such bad luck with it!
Jord: You've had bad luck with cameras, ever since the Phembot had to get off the subway in DC and you were forced to leave your camera there. I hope it chooses to work from now on.

So sorry Jord! How annoying!! I know Costco has a 90 day return policy, but does Canon have some sort of warranty? If you do decide to get a new one and want a recommendation, I love my camera.
It was so fun to see you and your cute family at Dave's wedding.
That is a total bummer! I would go to Costco and demand your money back, 90 days be darned! I think they will do it to keep a customer happy. And if that doesn't work there are always exorcisms.
Jor-are you kidding me?? That's the camera I was thinking about buying...the 7.1. It's supposed to be the best, but now I'm going to reconsider. Hmmm...what would you buy now?
Yes, Linny, we have the same camera and I'm sure yours will be fine. We just got a lemon.
Pops: Good point about my bad camera luck. Maybe I should have the bot buy me a new one in return for making me leave my other one on the metro.
Rebecs: Thanks for the advice. I will try and be good like you and check out the warranty with Canon.
JL: How funny that you were looking at this camera. If you get it I just say you've been forewarned!
HA! that's awesome Jord!
Hey Jordan! I have the same camera and I love it but when I was at the Real Salt Lake game the other week it stopped working and now I am in Atlanta and it is being repaired at the Canon repair place. I am so mad!
Trish
Crazy about your camera going on the fritz too. Let me know what you find out from the Canon people...
