Can a person stand up too much? I feel like I'm like a checker at Walmart, always on my feet. By the end of the day my feet/legs are sore and my back sometimes hurts. Walking on unforgiving tile floors doesn't help much either.
I've also started running most mornings and yesterday when I got home my shin was so sore. It was sensitive all day and night still feels inflamed today. I think I have a shin splint. Yikes!
I need to wear more supportive shoes (bare feet and flip flops just aren't cutting it) and try and rest more, so any suggestions to help my problem are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry Jordan, I don't have any suggestions for you but I do feel your pain a little bit. I went running a few weeks ago for the first time in a while and I'm positive I had shin splints after that. It was a killer! I hope you can find a way to feel more relaxed!
There is a lot you can do! I would love to help you!! I will show you a couple stretches you can do. Stretch your calfs a lot right now too.
In the meen time. Put ice in a baggie and where it is tender on your shins, rub the ice top to bottom down your shin. It hurts, but it will help make sure to do it with a little pressure.
Make sure you back off your running until it is better.
Wear your running shoes all day for the extra support.
You will have to strengthen your shins as well and I can show you how to do that.
Sorry you got them...they are a pain to deal with!!!!!!
Maybe you could just have that wicked awesome dance instructor lady come over more often and keep your girls occupied. That or lock them in a room and watch some TV on your own (j/k).
I hope your shins get better. I know people who swear by a good ice bath after running. Are you training for a race?
Shin splints are the worst!! I got them so bad after I started running last year I had to stop and it took months for them to go away. And when I thought they were gone, I started running and they came back! It was so bad. So stop now before they get worse, ice them and get some new shoes. Good shoes make such a huge difference. And I've also noticed how much more sore my feet are on our wood floors now... it may have something to do with all the extra weight I'm carrying these days too! ;) My mom swears by wearing her "house shoes" that have her insoles in them. She now thinks that a good podiatrist can cure anything. Maybe you could go see a podiatrist? Apparently, they can fix it all :)
I hope they go away!!
I don't have any suggestions, just bear with the pain and keep running. Maybe you could get some orthotics, or something else. Interesting post, though.
Sarah is right if you start up with out them healed 110% it will flare up right away...it's a pain, keep up with the ice and STRETCH!
I'm thinking you might need some different shoes...that's the worst and so painful.
