I am a day behind on watching the games, but have so far seen every session on NBC. So far so great.
I do have a few questions though: Where do the judges come from? Do they know the intrigue they cause and mark people down on purpose? What happens to the Chinese athletes when they don't get gold? Are they sent to labor camps? Did anyone see Dara Torres' interview who, when asked straight up if she uses any performance enhancers, looked away from the camera and said no? Does that make anyone else think she is lying? Who is Phelps' dad? Did he pass away or did they divorce? Can May and Walsh ever lose? Should they retire while they're at the top of their game? Did anyone else find fencing hard to follow? Why are the sideline sports only given a few minutes of air time, while the prime time sports take up the whole show? Would you want to be an Olympian? Could you devote your whole life (hours of practice, limited social life, stress of competition, etc) to becoming a great athlete? Will they pay a price later in life for the the strain they put on their bodies to become Olympic material?
These, and I'm sure others I can't think of now are my burning Olympic questions.
And can I say that BMX racing is awesome and reminds me of an old school Nintendo game we played all the time as kids.

I like those questions, I have a few of the same ones myself. I don't know if I would want to be an Olympian. It would be a great achievement and I would love the great shape I would be in, but there's other things I want to do in life to... The ideal would be to be somewhere in the middle of nothing and an Olympian.
Jord, you are so funny. I have been staying up way too late watching the Olympics with Christian and it has been so fun. I would do a lot better recording it and not watching it at midnight ;) So, I know that Michael Phelps' parents got divorced when he was 9. I think I heard that his dad was at the games in Athens, but wasn't this time so that the games were more about Michael or something... I don't know. Also, I don't think that Dara Torres does performance enhancers. I think she does psycho training with her team of professionals including her massage therapists etc. That must be SO expensive! And I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese let downs were sent to labor camps. So insane.
Also, no, I don't think that May and Walsh can ever lose and last night after their game which was so awesome, they were asked if they would be back again and Kerri was so cute and just said, "No. I need a baby. I need a baby so bad!" and Misty said the same thing. They both want to stop so they can have families. Misty was like, "You know. We need the team of the future" I couldn't get over how cute they were last night and how awesome that game was.
And this comment is already longer than your post already, but last night they were talking about how this girl that was a diver, her dad and sister moved out to where the best training facility was and her mom stayed behind to keep her doctor practice going. Christian and I realized that we would never be willing to do that for our children, so I'm hoping they're not counting on being olympians ;) Oh, I have so much to say. But I have already rambled so much! Can you tell we've been having fun watching the Olympics? ;)
Call me when you're done Breaking Dawn!
I've wondered a few these questions myself. I've also wondered how old the oldest olympian to compete has been. Perhaps I could google this question.
I don't know the answer to any of the questions, except one. I'd heard that Phelps' dad and mother are divorced, but you'd think that the dad would still go to China to see the kid win all those gold medals.
As to Phelps, he is a great swimmer, but I don't think he is the athlete that others, who perform in several venues, are. Maybe that's blasphemy, considering all the publicity and popularity of Phelps, but that's my take on it.

I too have much to comment on. You raised some good questions. First off, if I ever did the olympics, I would choose a sport where the outcome was determined by the clock and not some judges whim. I think Dara is the real thing- no drugs. Could you love that lolo girl anymore (who tripped over the hurdle in the 100 meter? she was a classy loser) Did anyone see the race walking last night? OH MY- who would choose to do that sport? It's an embarrassment. . . i mean I like to walk fast- but that was a bit much. I think all the sports should be given some primetime airtime if just for 5-10 minutes instead of spending hours on the same sport. As much as I've LOVED every minute I've watched, it will be nice to get back to real life after Sunday!
Jord - you crack me up - love your guts...
Wow, we had some of the same questions. I didn't see the Torres interview where she looked away but you've got to believe she is doping in some way. I also wish they'd have show highlights of everything that happened during the day on the evening show, so we could get a taste of the less-mainstream sports. Good for me I had USA, MSNBC, Universal, etc so I could watch them all anyway. I miss the Olympics!
