Hello again friend.
Things have been busy. The kids and I had a great spring break trip to Northern CA to see Jacob's brother Christian and his family and had a fabulous time.
I finished up two first year Let's Play Music classes and held a recital.
The girls and Tommy all played a sport or two this spring- soccer, volleyball, and track as well as attended a few cooking classes and continued with piano lessons and had a recital.
And then I left them in the care of our lovely friend and babysitter Rebekah and went on a trip to Israel for two weeks with my mom.
I think I could write a dozen blogposts from that experience alone.
I am {mostly} looking forward to summer and having kids around, fewer schedules, more daylight hours and time.
And maybe being able to write some more.
I started to read the Book of Mormon again from the beginning and was grateful to reread this experience of Nephi, especially as I contemplate my role as a widowed mother.
He had received instruction from God that he didn't quite know how to accomplish. Nephi was willing to act, but didn't have all the information or know exactly how to get it done.
But he started the journey and recounts that "I was led by the spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do. Nevertheless, I went forth."
I really feel like that is often how it works for me.
I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I don't have all of the answers. But I am willing and I can go forth and trust that the spirit will lead me, and all of us, on this journey that we're on.

I liked this quote from the lesson I taught from Boyd K Packer. “Shortly after I was called as a General Authority, I went to Elder Harold B. Lee for counsel. He listened very carefully to my problem and suggested that I see President David O. McKay. President McKay counseled me as to the direction I should go. I was very willing to be obedient but saw no way possible for me to do as he counseled me to do.
“I returned to Elder Lee and told him that I saw no way to move in the direction I was counseled to go. He said, ‘The trouble with you is you want to see the end from the beginning.’ I replied that I would like to see at least a step or two ahead. Then came the lesson of a lifetime: ‘You must learn to walk to the edge of the light, and then a few steps into the darkness; then the light will appear and show the way before you.’ Then he quoted these 18 words from the Book of Mormon:
“‘Dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith’” (Ether 12:6).
It's so hard to do though. Keep moving forward, were behind you.
