What this Easter Has Meant to Our Family

I asked Jake to write up some thoughts on Easter:

"We celebrate Easter every year, but this year is different.  Although we still did some of the frivolous fun things like an Easter egg hunt, most of all we are celebrating Christ's resurrection.  The question of "what's next?" weighs heavily on us like never before.  It gives us great comfort to know that my corrupt body will put on incorruption and that Christ declared victory over death.  As Paul put it so beautifully in
1 Corinthians 15:

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

All of a sudden this passage and the doctrine of the resurrection has become so much more meaningful.  I love the expression of gratitude in verse 57 because that's how I feel today."

Here's our family right before we went to church
(Thanks mom for the kids Easter clothes, and Jake for my beautiful new dress!)

Thanks, Jake, for your clear-headed, heartfelt, and wonderful post on what Easter means, particularly as you and Jord and your family go through this trial. We love you and your family, and are so proud of you. We pray for you always, and know that Heavenly Father is mindful of you and blesses you. Thank you for your courage and resolve.

Thanks for sharing. I love you and admire you so much. Sometimes I get frustrated at the mortal and corruptible nature of the body, but am grateful that the Savior overcame our sorrows and death so that we can live once again with perfect bodies.

Thanks for sharing this message of hope Jake. Because of our Savior, we get to keep everything that we cherish and hold dear if we follow His teachings and example. You and Jordan are certainly on that path. I love to read the thoughts you both share and to know that your faith is what makes you strong, even through trials and adversity. What would we do without our faith? Where would we turn? He makes the impossible possible.
