Childbearing

Obviously, this is a subject that has been on my mind of late. However, lately I feel like I have been surrounded by women going through the whole range of childbearing issues.

-The premature birth and death of a child
-Early and unexpected birth
-A mother who got an infection in her blood after a C-section
-The death of a mother to Eclampsia
-A teen pregnancy to an unwed mother
-A mother who hemorrhaged due to a tear in her cervix after giving birth
-A mother who carried a baby with an IUD in place
-The healthy birth of a full term baby
-The early birth and subsequent death of a 2 month old child
-A mother with placenta previa who will undergo a C-section
-A breach baby at full term

Just knowing or knowing of the individuals who have experienced these and other issues in childbearing makes me all the more aware of how volatile new life is and how women who seek to bring a life into the world really do walk in the valley of the shadow of death.

It also solidifies my knowledge that we have a Heavenly Father who is over all, who has a plan for each person individually, and who controls when and how we come and go from this earth.

I mourn for the women I know who have lost their children prematurely and rejoice for those who have brought healthy babies into the world. I appreciate the sacrifice and risk my own mother took to bring me into the world. And I feel that despite the uncertainty of it all, giving a new spirit the opportunity to gain a body and experience mortality is worth it.

I have never felt as close to heaven than when I have given birth to my little babies. It is a miracle, and I am absolutely certain that we do have a Father in Heaven who is aware and so incredibly involved in everything that is happening with us, and especially you at this time, Jord. I hope and pray that everything goes well with your new little baby. My heart goes out to those women in your life going through all of that. What a blessing it is to have our healthy babies. It makes me complaining about having thrush for 3 months seem so, so insignificant. And like a whiner!

Love that we're both late night blogging :)

A blessing indeed, we're praying for you over the next few weeks as you wait for your next little one!

Steve and I have been marveling at this very thing this last month. It does take a lot to bring a child into this world, and you're never more aware of that than in your last few weeks of pregnancy.

We're confident that everything will go wonderfully for you and your sweet baby girl. Let us know when she gets here!

We pray for good outcomes for all, but at the end of the day, it's all in our Father's hands. Life is such a miracle and a birth really does make a woman a partner with the Almighty. #3 here you come!

Maybe we should move to Norway and help our odds? There have been some unexpected things so far so I'm not at all expecting anything with the birthing part to be completely normal, either. That reminds me I need to call you and get the full scoop on this whole birthing thing...

Thanks to Yevon, to you, Jord, and to Claire, and all mothers and mothers-to-be out there. You are truly unselfish in helping God bring His spirit children to earth. I admire you all. I think if men had the kids, there wouldn't be more than one per family, if that.

Yes, I always took for granted that I would bear children. After my difficulty getting pregnant I became stunned and amazed by how truly miraculous new life is! Children are truly a blessing. Good luck with your baby!

That is so sweet of you to post this Jordan. It is so true that Heavenly Father paves the way for us if we put ourself in His hands and are willing to go through what it takes to obtain our salvation, and that He has a plan for each of us. It's great to know that He is watching over us and will help us through anything. Congratulations on your new addition!!!
