Our Ellie's most beloved, cherished, sought after, comforting, and reliable pacifier. I honestly thought it would be a nightmare and we'd pay for our crime for weeks. But, amazingly, she has taken it quite well. I snipped of the end of it on Monday and told her it was broken. She cried for 10 minutes before her nap that day, but no tears at bed. She cried before nap for 5 minutes yesterday, and again no tears at bed. And today I put her down for her nap with only a whimper.
Seriously?
That is it?
We left the wounded binkie in her room, so if she ever wants it she can find it and realize, alas, that it is still broken.
Poor thing.
It is really for her own good.

We really should do that. I just don't know if I can deal with 2 unplugged mouths in Sacrament Meeting. :S
I am glad it went so smoothly!
I'm so glad she's doing so well without it! Katie still has hers for sleeping and it is the only way I can get her to take a nap when she does. We'll have to have a visit from the binkie fairy one of these days since she is WAY too old for it now! And because she's so old I doubt she'd go for the broken binkie, I'm sure she'd just tell me to buy a new one! Way to go for getting rid of it before she's too old for your tricks! ;)
That is the only way to get rid of a pacey. Worked like a charm for our first three kids, but Cam somehow decided it being broken wasn't as bad as living w/o it, so sucked on the broken one for a year at bedtime! sad.
That's great Jord! I love the broken binkie idea, especially the leaving it in her room so she can find it's still wounded!
Great news, Jord, about the broken paci - that hearkens back to days of yore. Too bad for Ellie, but good for you guys.
It was hard to take the paci from max Elbert had to get rid of them while Max and I cried and fought him every step :) I know so silly!
