We got word yesterday that Jake's surgery will be this coming Wednesday, January 27. He is the second operation of the day and checks into the hospital at 11:00 am.
We are grateful for our parents who are able and willing to come down and help us with our kids. Our ward is arranging for a few meals next week and I've tried my best to get our ducks in a row so we're ready.
It is kind of like preparing to go on a week long vacation without kids....
To the hospital.
Not the ideal destination, but thankfully we have clean clothes in our drawers, our bills paid, the floors mopped, and food in the fridge and can now just have wonderful weekend together.
We appreciate all those who are thinking of, praying for and fasting for Jake and would ask especially for your faith in his behalf on Wednesday.
Thank you for your love. As cited in this amazing talk, love is a potent healer and has bound up our wounded hearts as we've walked this road with so much support surrounding us.

We will fast you and your family and keep you in our prayers.
My thoughts and love are with you as you so valiantly carry on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gifts of expression and faith. Through your willingness to open up to those who love you and those they love that may not even know you, you have lifted others and born witness of your unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father, His plan and His watchful eye upon each of us. I'm no expert in enduring well, but I do know staying present in the moment, feeling the love and hope of others right now does bring comfort and allow the Holy Ghost to wrap you in his spirit of love. I.have and will always love you dear girl. Connie
Love you Jord! My thoughts and prayers are with both you and Jake!
We will pray for you guys and that surgery goes well tomorrow
Oh, my dear friends! The feelings I have at this news is leaving me speechless. . .I still hold hope that Jacob beats this and proves wrong the doctors that gave him the terminal death sentence to begin with. I pray for his comfort and healing, and that you and the children are reassured things will be OK. I shed my tears and tremble at the thought of yet another brain surgery. But I know the Lord knows Jake, and each of you. He loves and cares for you--most importantly, He wants to bless you. Holding so fiercely to this knowledge is what keeps me going in my own life! I know it is your balm of Gilead as you experience these medical challenges for Jacob. As always, you and yours have my heartfelt prayers of hope, encouragement, and reassurance things for Jacob will be handled by the Lord's power and spirit. You and your family are upheld by the righteous Hand of God, and the strength comes through the atoning sacrifice of our dear Brother, Jesus Christ. "Fear not, for I am with thee. . ." As for the mortal discomforts of speech and itching, I can suggest a couple of things: One, is to sing alot! Yes, singing forces the articulation to project and come out as speech is formed. It is also used to treat stuttering. Try that when you find a frustration coming on. This way the kids can also share some more quality time with Dad by singing to him and with him. Secondly, the itching is eating at the sensory nerves, so I would try some holistic method of relieving his comfort--cornstarch is healing, soothes, feels cool to the touch, and generally calms the skin. Another thing to try is essential oils, lavender and also chamomile. You can get those at Health Stores, or contact Doterra representative and try to get him some lavender essential oil to rub on the affected areas. You also want to avoid HOT WATER on the skin, as that is drying. Dry skin can trigger itching, so I would avoid that at all cost. Anything that breathes with him would be comfortable--look into getting sheep's wool covers that are natural fiber, not chemically treated. You might try surfing the Net to buying some seatcovers in sheepskin, and maybe sheets that you can cut down to fit cushions he sits on. I also believe anything like sheeting, can be good if it is natural fiber. Also, there are bamboo linens on the market, even materials from bamboo that you can buy to make all kinds of things. I would get some sheepskin sheets, and back that with the bamboo for a lightweight cover. Hope this might inspire some relief for Jake! Love ya! Sis. Ronda Reed
We will be fasting and praying for you all day tomorrow. We are so grateful your mom and John and Barbara can be there to help during and after the surgery. We want you to know we are available to come anytime you need in the weeks to follow. James can come like before or I can come.
We love you. We love you. We love you.
Praying and thinking of all of you! Hold onto each moment! You have touched so many lives through this journey.
I am so glad that there are so many who love you and are praying for you. We love you and you are always in our prayers.
